Lehmann works with municipalities, developers, and multilateral institutions to navigate the transition to low-carbon, resource-efficient urban development. His strategic advice has been sought by political leaders across Asia, Australia, Latin America, the US, the Middle East, and Europe — and he has served on the UN SDG reference group alongside extensive government advisory work on sustainable urban development for desert cities and small island states.
Senior advisor for urban strategy:
Over the past 25 years, he has advised fifteen cities on sustainable urban development, including Berlin, Stuttgart, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Abu Dhabi, Ho Chi Minh City, Helsinki, Brighton, Reno, Las Vegas, and Honolulu. Across these engagements, he develops value-creation strategies across the full project lifecycle — from concept to completion.
These high-level engagements signal institutional confidence in his expertise — from government agencies to municipalities to leading industry bodies.
Advisory and Consulting
His experience spans over 100 large-scale public and private projects across 16 countries. He has advised international institutions, private owners, and developers on the acquisition, restructuring, and divestment of commercial and residential real estate — including serving on the advisory board of Rio Tinto on the development of their Australian landholdings (2007–2010).
Early urban design work included significant contributions to the Potsdamer Platz development in Berlin, where he collaborated with executive leadership teams on strategic direction for one of Europe's most ambitious post-war urban projects.
DESIGNING AND BUILDING IN BERLIN AFTER THE FALL OF THE WALL WAS ONE OF THE MOST FORMATIVE EXPERIENCES OF MY CAREER.
