Steffen Lehmann has received recognition across both professional practice and academic life — through design competition wins, teaching awards, and international honours.

The majority of his built work in Europe resulted from winning design competitions. Notable successes include the mixed-use development at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin (1993–2002), integrating sustainable urban design into one of the most significant reconstruction projects in post-reunification Germany; and the masterplan for Albertplatz in Dresden (1994–2000), emphasising ecological restoration within a sensitive historic context.

Competition Wins, Awards and Recognition

Further wins include the headquarters for the Bundesverband Deutscher Banken, the revitalisation and adaptive reuse of railway arches in Berlin Mitte, and the extension of the Auswärtiges Amt (German Ministry of Foreign Affairs) in Berlin (1997–2003). Each was selected through a competitive process that recognised the firm's ability to combine historical preservation with contemporary, energy-efficient design.
